Each year, nearly 60,000 children die in the U.S. Caring for a critically or terminally ill child is an overwhelming experience, requiring families to face complex emotional, financial, medical and ethical issues. It is often a lonely and painful journey, because relatives, friends, the community and healthcare professionals struggle with how they can be supportive. This compelling video and handbook provide welcome guidance for those wanting to offer compassionate care to families while a child is dying.

The family experience video tells the real-life stories of four culturally and economically diverse families who lost a child... in their own voices... from their own perspective.

The supportive care handbook summarizes the families' issues, suggests specific ways to help, and identifies a broad range of resources.

The cost of the video and handbook kit is $125.00 for institutions and $75.00 for community organizations. The handbook may be purchased separately for $15.00. Please see our order form for details.

When a Child Is Dying received a Bronze Award from the 2002 Worldfest/Houston International Film Festival in the "Family Matters" category. The festival attracted more than 3,900 entries from 34 countries.
