Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, no matter how it turns out.

Using the Web Wisely

Clearly understanding the medical issues is for many, a critical part of caring for their children. When reading any piece of information, confusion can easily arise. Please discuss everything with your child's physician - only then will you see exactly what fits your unique situation. Truth will always calm your fears, and uncertainty will always increase them.

Finding Information

Our recently established "Articles" page contains information designed for use by patients. To search for such information on your own, try our Internet Search page. We recommend the Growth House  search engine, which allows you to look in several areas related to palliative care. Medical Matrix is another excellent choice, where you can search for articles on most any medical topic, choosing only those that are written for consumers or professionals.

Also, please feel free to browse the medical publications page. Although these articles are taken from the medical literature, the information is available to all. You may find the articles on philosophy particularly interesting. If you find portions difficult to understand, please check with your physician. He or she can translate the language and explain the issues for you.
