Official Rules for NHPCO's Hospice and Palliative Care Film Festival

In conjunction with NHPCO's First National Conference on Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Care - "Linking Hands, Linking Hearts" - November 12-14, Dearborn, MI (co-sponsored by the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization), NHPCO is seeking films that deal with the life-threatening illness, care of, and/or death of a child, and related family experiences. Films that examine other aspects of end-of-life care may be submitted in the general end-of-life category.

Winning films will be announced at the Management and Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. In addition, winning films from the pediatric category will be honored and highlighted at the NHPCO/MHPCO Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Care Conference in November.

Rules of Participation:
 
bulletAll entries must be postmarked by Friday, July 30, 2004 (the extended deadline.)
bulletFilms must be submitted in the pediatric palliative or hospice care category, or in the general end-of-life care category.
bulletFilms must be in VHS videotape format.
bulletCopies of the release(s) obtained during the filming of each project or a statement verifying that the person or organization submitting the film has full rights to the film and is authorized to submit the work to NHPCO must be submitted with each entry.
bulletAll entries become the property of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and will not be returned. NHPCO reserves the right to use any entry as it sees fit but will not duplicate or sell the submitted films.
bulletContest is not open to employees of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization or their family members.
bulletFilms must be submitted in the Pediatric Category.
bulletFilms should be designated for one of the following audience classifications:
Films for Professional Audiences
Films for General Audiences
Broadcast Quality Films
 
bulletAll films should come labeled with the following information:

Main contact and his/her phone number
Film Editor's Name
Film Category: Pediatric or General
Film Audience Classification (professional, general, or broadcast)
Title of entry
Name, address, and phone number of program
A brief description (1-3 paragraphs) explaining the content/circumstances of the film.
Remember to include necessary release information with each film submission.

Prizes:
The top winner in each category will receive a $100 NHPCO Marketplace gift certificate. Winning entries also will be displayed at NHPCO's First National Conference on Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Care-Linking Hands, Linking Hearts-November 12-14, Dearborn, MI (co-sponsored by the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization). Winners will be highlighted in NHPCO's member publications: NewsLine and Hospice and Palliative Care Insights.
