How do You Get Through A Bad Day?

There are many things we can do to help use face adversity. The answer's different for each of us, but they all share the concept of simplicity. Simplify the problem, and embrace what you feel. We offer for you some ideas you might find useful when the sky seems gray and summer will never come. And remember, no matter what, there is always hope.

How do you get through a bad day? Send us an e-mail and we'll post your replies on our site.

Take a look around, Feel what you see.

Maybe it's a memory, maybe it's nature, maybe it's love.

Find some pictures--your own, a friend's, a book.

Music

There's something magical about music and its ability to calm the human heart. Whether it's the melody, the lyrics, or just the mood, sometimes a good song helps ease our pain. We have created a list a few of our favorites, in hopes this helps you learn about what moves you. CDs can be purchased from MyMusic.com and Maine's own Bull Moose Music

Listen to the Children by Kate Eastman: Kate wrote this song to express her fundamental belief of how children eloquently, but simply, teach us important lessons.

Scar by Carly Simon: Ms. Simon wrote this song during her recovery from breast cancer treatment. It promotes the concept, embraced by Dr. Bernie Siegel, that one heals better if the reality of an illness is accepted, rather than "battled". Consider reading his book, Love, Medicine, and Miracles if you're interested in reading more about this topic. Lyrics Here

I Want to Live by John Denver: A beautifully powerful piece about embracing life. Bittersweet, maybe, but certainly emotional. Lyrics Here

Up From Your Life by James Taylor: Spirituality doesn't require a standard religious belief. "You don't need to name it...". Lyrics Here

Secret O' Life by James Taylor: Look for the little things in life, because they're really the big things. Lyrics Here

Vincent by Don McLean, instrumental performed by Chet Atkins. Just close your eyes and listen. Lyrics Here

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. A classic piece about helping others. Lyrics Here

As Long as You Love (Scarlet Wings) by Cindy Bullens. Jesse Bullens-Crewe was a passionate, loving, bright girl with a head full of flowing red hair to match her personality. She lives in our hearts and in this song. Lyrics Here
