Compendium of Pediatric Palliative Care

Author: Children's International Project on Palliative/Hospice Services (ChiPPS)

The Compendium, developed by the Children's International Project on Palliative/Hospice Services (ChIPPS), is a comprehensive reference on pediatric palliative care and could be used as a self study guide. It is divided into the following four sections:

  1. Pediatric Palliative Care Services Communication
  2. Ethics and Decision-Making
  3. Management of Pain and Other Symptoms
  4. Psychosocial and Spiritual Care.

Each section lists a complete set of references and resources.

Reviewers wrote, "Excellent. Broad - deep". Another commented, "Overall, the Compendium represents one of the first efforts to pull together a comprehensive reference on pediatric palliative care. It successfully covers many of the relevant topics in a fairly objective manner and could serve as a basic reference for caregivers with limited experience in pediatrics who find themselves caring for a child with a life threatening illness and their family."
